Baseball Recap: Clear Creek Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Clear Creek ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Bruce Randolph Grizzlies 6-5. The victory continues a trend for the Golddiggers in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won five in a row.

Vinny Schoell and Zephyrus Schuessler were major factors while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Schoell struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Schuessler pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. At bat, Schoell went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Schuessler went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Schoell a new career-high.

The win got Clear Creek back to even at 1-1. As for Bruce Randolph, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Clear Creek will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against South Park at 4:30 p.m. on the 31st. As for Bruce Randolph, they will face off against Lincoln at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Grizzlies their first taste of in-conference action this season.
