Basketball Recap: Marisa Reyes Key Part of Team Effort in Stallions Win

After losing to Pueblo Centennial the last time they met, Sierra decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Sierra Stallions enjoyed a cozy 51-34 win over the Pueblo Centennial Bulldogs on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Stallions have won by exactly 17 points.

Sierra's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marisa Reyes led the charge by putting up 17 points and four steals. That's the most points Reyes has posted since back in February of 2024. Aspyn McClain was another key player, posting six points along with six assists and five rebounds.

Sierra smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Despite the defeat, Pueblo Centennial saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jailee Schwab went 6-for-13 to rack up 17 points. Thanks to that strong game, Schwab now owns an excellent 43.2% three-point shooting accuracy.

Sierra is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. As for Pueblo Centennial, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Looking ahead, Sierra will take on Vista Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Pueblo Centennial, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 44-25 defeat against Pueblo Central on the 19th.
