Winter Haven Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell to the Candlelight Christian Academy Flames 48-44. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak dating back to last season.

Winter Haven Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Alana Brown, who posted 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Saint Val, who put up ten points in addition to six boards and three steals.

Leading Candlelight Christian Academy to victory were Skyler Taylor and Leishka Reyes. Taylor had 27 points and eight rebounds, while Reyes almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 boards.

The win got Candlelight Christian Academy back to even at 1-1.

Winter Haven Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 60-18 loss against Ridgeview Global Studies Academy on the 9th. As for Candlelight Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 51-17 victory against Geneva Classical Academy on the 6th.
