Basketball Recap: Reese Kibbe's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Santa Fe over Angleton

Santa Fe lost against Angleton back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Santa Fe Indians came up short against the Angleton Wildcats, falling 75-55. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 682nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 320th).

Santa Fe's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Reese Kibbe, who went 5-for-6 en route to 13 points. Those 13 points gave Kibbe a new career-high. Kaidan Mata was another key player, going 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points.

Leading Angleton to victory were Braydon Campbell and Bryson Campbell. Braydon dropped a double-double with 30 points and 12 rebounds, while Bryson went 10-for-17 to rack up 25 points and four steals. Angleton is undefeated when Bryson posts 25 or more points, but 15-16 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Noah Rossow, who went 5-for-10 en route to 11 points along with five assists and three steals.

Santa Fe's loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-21. As for Angleton, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-16 record this season.

Santa Fe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Angleton, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 65-56 defeat against West Brook on the 18th.
