Baseball Recap: Los Lunas Picks Up Seventh Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Los Lunas, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They skirted past the Belen Eagles 3-1. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tigers also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

JJ Utash made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Utash wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jasiah Byers, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another was Matthew Castillo, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Los Lunas' victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Belen, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-3.

Los Lunas wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 16-6 loss against Piedra Vista on the 8th. As for Belen, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-5 defeat against Clovis on the 8th.
