Volleyball Recap: Carlinville Cavaliers vs. Southwestern Piasa Birds
Carlinville had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Southwestern Piasa Birds on Tuesday. The Cavaliers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Piasa Birds, too.
Carlinville's not only won, but also showed off some consistency: keeping Southwestern to exactly 17 points across their sets. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17.
Braley Wiser paced Carlinville's offense, picking up six kills. Wiser got some help from
Isabella Tiburzi and her 16 assists. Finally, Tiburzi was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.
Carlinville's victory bumped their record up to 27-7-1. As for Southwestern, they moved to 16-19 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
