Basketball Recap: Seaside Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Seaside Christian Academy played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Greenwood Mennonite Flames, falling 41-21. The Fighting Marlins lost against the Flames in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 51-3 score last time.

Greenwood Mennonite's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emily Kirk led the charge by putting up eight points and five rebounds. The dominant performance gave Kirk a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hibbs, who posted six points along with seven rebounds and three blocks.

Seaside Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Seaside Christian Academy will venture away from home to challenge Arcadia at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they will host Concord Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
