Football Recap: Caston Skates Past South Central with Ease

Caston's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 46-0 victory over the South Central Satellites. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Comets had established a 40-point advantage.

Ashton Bowyer was his usual excellent self, rushing for 115 yards and three scores on only 13 carries, while also picking up 31 receiving yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards he has posted since back in September of 2024. Gavin Mollenkopf was another key player, rushing for 43 yards and one touchdown.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Caston proved: they limited South Central to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. The team can thank Tucker Woolever for the heroic effort on defense: he. Caston didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.9.

Caston didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Gage Minniear, Bowyer, and Reed Sommers picked up one apiece.

Caston's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-3. As for South Central, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Caston wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 12-7 defeat against Culver Community on the 26th. As for South Central, they have also already played their next game, a 49-7 loss against Pioneer on the 26th.
