Softball Recap: Mason County Eastern Cardinals vs. Traverse City Christian Sabres
Mason County Eastern extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-14 in the process. They lost 16-0 to the Traverse City Christian Sabres. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sabres this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-7 on Monday.
As for Traverse City Christian, their victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-13. Considering they have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Traverse City Christian's part, Abigail Miller was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Miller was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, Sadie Brown-Bannon and Kaitlynn Payne did most of the damage at the plate: Brown-Bannon went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double, while Payne went 3-for-4 with five RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits Payne has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Avary Ehlert, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Looking ahead, Mason County Eastern will be playing at home against White Cloud at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Traverse City Christian, they will face off against Brethren at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
