Basketball Recap: Grafton Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Grafton unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 50-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Washington Patriots on Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Grafton lost, don't look at Kenna Keener. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 27 points and ten rebounds. Keener is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Beltner, who posted nine points in addition to six rebounds and three blocks.

Grafton has already played their next matchup, a 54-40 defeat against Morgantown on the 6th. As for Washington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-40 loss against George Washington on the 6th.
