Softball Recap: Atascocita Has No Trouble Against Dayton

Atascocita got themselves on the board against Dayton on Monday, but Dayton never followed suit. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over the Dayton Broncos. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-0 on Monday.

Maya Hernandez looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and only two hits over four innings pitched.

At the plate, Atascocita let Rhilynn McCoy and Ashlee Elizarraras loose on the outfield. McCoy went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Elizarraras went a perfect3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one double. That's the most runs Elizarraras has posted since back in March of 2024. Morgan Marks was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Atascocita always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dayton only posted an OBP of .167.

The win made it two in a row for Atascocita and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-3 Dayton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 29.2% over those games). As for Dayton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atascocita will host Spring at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Dayton, they will take on MacArthur in a tournament on Thursday.
