Volleyball Recap: Richard Winn Academy Eagles vs. Jefferson Davis Academy Raiders
Richard Winn Academy was the 2-0 winner over Jefferson Davis Academy when they last played one another back in August of 2018, but their luck changed this time around. The Eagles fell just short of the Raiders by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday.
Richard Winn Academy actually scored more points across those five sets (100-86), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-21, 12-25, 9-25, 25-21, 15-8.
Jefferson Davis Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was RYNN FICKLING, who had 21 kills, 12 digs, and four aces. Those 21 kills gave FICKLING a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of ABBY DEERING, who had 34 assists and 14 digs.
Richard Winn Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Jefferson Davis Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.
Looking ahead, Jefferson Davis Academy will head out on the road to face off against Holly Hill Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Richard Winn Academy will be paying especially close attention to the Raiders' match: after the Raiders face off against the Raiders, they'll take on Richard Winn Academy again at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
