Football Game Preview: Weeki Wachee Hornets vs. Santa Fe Raiders + How To Watch

The Weeki Wachee Hornets will square off against the Santa Fe Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Weeki Wachee is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Hernando just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 17-6 to the Leopards. The game marked the Hornets' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Despite the loss, Weeki Wachee got top-tier performance from Leelen Wright, who rushed for 111 yards and one TD. Wright's rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 111 rushing yards.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe lost to Bradford on the road by a 21-7 margin on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Tornadoes are ranked 55th).

Weeki Wachee's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-2. As for Santa Fe, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Weeki Wachee has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 193.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Santa Fe struggles in that department as they've been averaging 188.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
