Preview: Madison Academy Mustangs vs. Westminster Christian Wildcats
Madison Academy is 5-0 against Westminster Christian since September of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Madison Academy Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Westminster Christian Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Madison Academy sitting on ten straight wins dating back to last season and Westminster Christian on eight.
Madison Academy can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Susan Moore, posting a 55-7 victory on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Madison Academy just coasted through the last quarter.
Meanwhile, Westminster Christian stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 55-28 victory over New Hope. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-14.
Brandon Musch was his usual excellent self, rushing for 135 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while also throwing for 150 yards and three touchdowns. Musch is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played.
Madison Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 9-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Brindlee Mountain and 1-8 Asbury (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34% over those games). As for Westminster Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Everything came up roses for Madison Academy against Westminster Christian in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-14 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Madison Academy since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
