Volleyball Recap: Riverheads Gladiators vs. Waynesboro Little Giants
Riverheads needed a changed in momentum after dropping five straight games and they got it from Hattie Croft. The Riverheads Gladiators had just enough and edged the Waynesboro Little Giants out 3-2 on Tuesday thanks in part to Croft, who had ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces she has posted in her last seven matches.
Riverheads was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 23-25, 21-25, 25-21, 16-14.
Gwyneth Lloyd paced Riverheads' offense, picking up 14 kills. Lloyd got some help from
Kylee Swats and her 36 assists. Swats was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.
Riverheads' victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-12. As for Waynesboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-9.
