Softball Recap: King/Drew Takes Down Wilson in a Playoff Battle

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only King/Drew walked away with it. Everything went their way against the Wilson Mules on Friday as they made off with a 19-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won ten matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Jordan Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xeniya Anderson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Walker, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

King/Drew always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .816. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

King/Drew is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Wilson, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-15.

Coming up, King/Drew will venture away from home to challenge Taft at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Toreadors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Wilson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
