Softball Recap: King/Drew's Win on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but King/Drew had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against the Wilson Mules as they made off with a 19-1 victory. That 18 run margin sets a new team best for the Golden Eagles this season.

Jordan Garcia made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Xeniya Anderson was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Brooklyn Walker was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

King/Drew always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .816. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win was the fifth in a row for King/Drew, bringing their record up to 13-14. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.6 runs over those games. As for Wilson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-15.

Coming up, King/Drew will take on Taft at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Toreadors will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight. Wilson does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
