James Welch made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Colby Moholland, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Daniel Gardner was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Foxcroft Academy). They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Orono 14-12.
Like Washington Academy, Foxcroft Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Calvin Landry. He struck out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off six hits. Landry was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Foxcroft Academy got a massive performance out of Lucas Sands, who went 3-for-4 with four stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Sands has brought in this season. Another player making a difference was Josh Knapp, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
Foxcroft Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .523. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
