Basketball Game Preview: Evans Trojans vs. Edgewater Eagles

Evans and Edgewater are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Evans Trojans will square off against the Edgewater Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Evans' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 15 matchups.

Evans is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They blew past Bartow 73-50. Given the Trojans' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 61st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Evans' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Arosco Dubois, who posted 16 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Dubois' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rahean Edmonds Jr, who went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points.

Evans smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Edgewater entered their tilt with Viera on Monday with ten consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 11. They put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 71-49 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 21 points or more this season.

Evans is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season. As for Edgewater, their victory bumped their record up to 20-8.

Evans lost to Edgewater on the road by a decisive 76-61 margin when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can Evans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
