Basketball Recap: Midview Comes Up Short

Midview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a hard 81-66 fall against the Steele Comets. While losing is never fun, the Middies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 679th, while the Comets are ranked 210th).

Despite the loss, Midview still got an impressive performance from Luke Jockel, who went 12-for-19 en route to 30 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Jockel is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Xavier Young, who shot 64% from the field on his way to 20 points and five rebounds.

Steele found their leader in sophomore Jack Coleman, who went 11-for-18 to rack up 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Coleman has scored all season. Cole Scanlon was another key player, shooting 56% from the field en route to 15 points.

Midview's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Steele, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-4.

Midview has already played their next matchup, a 70-42 loss against Avon Lake on the 20th. As for Steele, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 91-53 defeat against Hoover on the 18th.
