Basketball Recap: Highline Comes Up Short

The Highline Pirates came up short against the Newport - Bellevue Knights on Friday, falling 52-29.

It was another big night for Portia Polo, who went 8 for 19 en route to 19 points and four steals for Newport - Bellevue. That makes it three consecutive games in which Polo has scored at least a third of Newport - Bellevue's points. Another player making a difference was Gianna Veetutu, who posted five points in addition to eight assists and five steals.

Highline has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Newport - Bellevue, they moved to 5-10 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highline will host Franklin at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Highline is facing Franklin at the right time seeing as Franklin is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
