Basketball Recap: Zeigler-Royalton Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Christopher, Zeigler-Royalton was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Elverado Falcons 61-59. The win almost wasn't to be: the Tornadoes were down 35-21 in the second quarter.

River Freeman was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 33 points and 13 boards. He has become a key player for Zeigler-Royalton: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least 30 points, but 5-20 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Rogers, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

Zeigler-Royalton's record now sits at 9-21. As for Elverado, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-15.

Looking ahead, Zeigler-Royalton will challenge Woodlawn at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Zeigler-Royalton is facing Woodlawn at the right time seeing as Woodlawn is stuck on a four-game losing streak. Elverado does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
