Softball Recap: Holbrook Roadrunners vs. ALA - West Foothills Guardians

Holbrook had lost six straight on the road, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 12-16 to make it seven. They lost 17-2 to the ALA - West Foothills Guardians. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Roadrunners couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for ALA - West Foothills, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by ten runs or more this season.

For ALA - West Foothills' part, Ava LaHair made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. LaHair was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, ALA - West Foothills got a massive performance out of Ave Risati, who fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-2. Risati is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Caines, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

Holbrook does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for ALA - West Foothills, they will take on Bourgade Catholic at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Golden Eagles will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Guardians surely won't give up without a fight.
