Recap: Gila Ridge Hawks vs. La Joya Community Fighting Lobos
The Gila Ridge Hawks pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of La Joya Community by a score of 61-58.
Makuach Makuei continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for La Joya Community, scoring 26 points along with seven rebounds. Those 26 points set a new season-high mark for him. Joseph Rukundo was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Gila Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 2-12. As for La Joya Community, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-11.
Gila Ridge is on the road again on Friday and play against Desert Sunrise at 11:30 a.m. on January 5th. As for La Joya Community, they will be playing at home against Lake Havasu at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lake Havasu is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
