The Crystal River Pirates will face off against the Hudson Cobras at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Crystal River sitting on six straight wins and Hudson on three.
Hudson's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Wednesday: Crystal River hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Pirates never let Springstead get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since March 13th.

Not much got past Violet Flynn, who gave up just four hits and racked up 16 Ks to keep Springstead off the board. Flynn has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Crystal River's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Athena Childs, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hudson). Everything went their way against Fivay on Monday as they made off with a 19-3 win. With that victory, the Cobras brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Alivia Evans and Jesse Anderson did most of the damage at the plate: Evans went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Anderson went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Anderson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kylie Mcwhorter, who scored three runs while going 1-for-2.
Hudson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .526. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Crystal River's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Hudson, their win bumped their record up to 6-8.
Hudson's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Crystal River has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Hudson, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Crystal River keep running through batters, or will the Cobras buck the trend?
Everything went Crystal River's way against Hudson in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Crystal River made off with an 11-1 victory. Will the Pirates repeat their success, or do the Cobras have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
