Basketball Recap: Independence Snags Sixth Victory in Last Eight Games

Independence extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Rafael Sierra. The Independence Patriots simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Glendale Cardinals 66-38 thanks to Sierra, who went 6-for-7 to rack up 15 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in November of 2024.

The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Colonna, who had ten points and five steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played.

Despite the loss, Glendale still got an impressive performance from Michael Palomino, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Victor Rodriguez, who put up eight points.

Independence has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Glendale, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Independence wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 60-44 loss against Copper Canyon on the 11th. As for Glendale, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-57 defeat against Washington on the 11th.
