League recap: Hickory Ridge stuns East Rowan in upset

3A Conference 7 recap October 8, 2013

The biggest upset of the week belonged to Hickory Ridge, who took down 140th ranked East Rowan, 35-21.

Concord was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after topping Central Cabarrus. The Spiders came in at 18 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.

5-foot-10 quarterback Aaron Kennerly of South Rowan is the league leader in passing yards this season with 691. He has also thrown 3 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Seth Wyrick. The East Rowan star has 28 catches for 442 yards.

The Vikings are currently in third, while West Rowan is in fourth.

The Ragin' Bulls moved up to 211 from 250 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 3A Conference 7. Hickory Ridge climbed the ranks as a result of besting the Mustangs 35-21.
