Valley gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Butte County Pirates, posting a 54-16 win. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 54-8.

Leading Valley to victory were Thomas Vargas and Brandt Jones. Vargas gained 200 total yards, while Jones threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns. Vargas' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 105 rushing yards dating back to last season.

When it comes to explaining why Butte County lost, don't look at Teagan Babcock. Despite the final result, he rushed for 154 yards and one TD on only 11 carries.

Butte County's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley will welcome Prairie at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Butte County, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Carey at 7:00 p.m.
