Preview: Collinsville Pirates vs. Tioga Bulldogs
Collinsville and Tioga are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Collinsville Pirates will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Tioga Bulldogs at 8:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Collinsville waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins but they left with three. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 65-25 win over Chico. That 40 points margin sets a new team best for Collinsville this season.
Collinsville had a senior duo take command as Landon Carpenter dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds and Carter Scott dropped a double-double on 15 points and 22 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carpenter has scored all season. Parker Wells was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though Tioga has not done well against Lindsay recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Tioga came out on top against Lindsay by a score of 59-50. The win was just what Tioga needed coming off of a 56-32 loss in their prior matchup.
Collinsville's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Tioga, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.
Collinsville beat Tioga 54-46 in their previous meeting on January 2nd. Will Collinsville repeat their success, or does Tioga have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
