Basketball Recap: Jaiden Horton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Homestead over Florida Christian

Homestead fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Florida Christian on Wednesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Florida Christian Patriots 72-67. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (61), the Broncos still had to take the loss.

Homestead lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jaiden Horton, who went 9 for 13 on his way to 24 points and six boards. The game was Horton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Rodney Holmes was another key player, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

The loss snapped Homestead's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-7 record. As for Florida Christian, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Homestead will face off against Archbishop Carroll at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Florida Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Divine Savior Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
