Basketball Recap: Austin Slone's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Johnson Central over Boyd County + How To Watch

If Johnson Central was riding high fresh off their 78-53 takedown of Lewis County on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Golden Eagles came up short against the Boyd County Lions on Saturday, falling 94-71. The Golden Eagles haven't had much luck with the Lions recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Several Golden Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Austin Slone, who posted 24 points and seven boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Shepherd, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds.

Johnson Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Boyd County, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Johnson Central will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Greenup County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Boyd County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Blazer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Lions their first taste of in-conference action this season.
