Football Game Preview: Seneca Bobcats vs. Greer Yellow Jackets

Two dominant backs in Amari Verner and Calvin McCoy are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Seneca Bobcats will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Greer Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Seneca's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Berea 48-0. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won six in a row.

Gavin Thoma had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 239 yards and five TDs while completing 80% of his passes.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greer). They claimed a resounding 61-21 win over Blue Ridge.

Greer found their leader in sophomore McCoy, who rushed for 225 yards and three scores while picking up 11.3 yards per carry.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Greer proved: they limited Blue Ridge to a paltry 3.4 yards per carry. The Yellow Jackets didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged eight.

Greer didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Chase Free.

The victory got Greer back to even at 4-4. As for Seneca, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.
