Softball Recap: Chelsea Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Chelsea waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Pelham Panthers 9-2. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-5 back in March.

Sydney Carroll made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Those 11 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Katie Hopson, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sadie Wilson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Chelsea hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 14 consecutive games.

Chelsea pushed their record up to 21-9-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Pelham, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chelsea will challenge Spain Park at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets are facing the Jaguars at the right time seeing as the Jaguars are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Pelham, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against John Carroll Catholic at 5:00 p.m. The Panthers will also cruise into their next matchup with the timing on their side: the Cavaliers will have lost three straight heading into Thursday's game.
