Sumrall has won five straight games at home, while Florence has won five straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Bobcats will host the Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Sumrall made easy work of Pass Christian and carried off an 11-1 win. That's two games straight that the Bobcats have won by exactly ten runs.

Sumrall let Leo Odom and Tyler Lowery run wild. Odom went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Lowery went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave Lowery a new career-high. Landon Hawkins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
Sumrall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Florence won against Natchez on Friday with 16 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Monday. The Eagles didn't even let Raleigh on the board, marking the Eagles' second-straight 16-0 shutout.
Bryan Davis and Morgan Weathersby did most of the damage at the plate: Davis scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Weathersby scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Weathersby is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaboris Buckley, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Florence is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Sumrall, their win bumped their record up to 18-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Sumrall has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Florence struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
