Basketball Game Preview: Childersburg Tigers vs. Winterboro Bulldogs

Childersburg and Winterboro are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. Having just played yesterday, the Childersburg Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Winterboro Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Childersburg is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Midfield on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Childersburg took a blow against Midfield, falling 84-22. The Tigers have struggled against the Patriots recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Winterboro waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with 13 straight wins... but they left with 14. They breezed by the Bulldogs to the tune of 81-17. Given Winterboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Wadley is ranked 343rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Winterboro's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.1 points per game. As for Childersburg, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-11.

Childersburg was able to grind out a solid victory over Winterboro in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, winning 59-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Childersburg since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
