Basketball Recap: Thornwell Takes a Loss

Thornwell was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 70-48 to the Richard Winn Academy Eagles.

Richard Winn Academy was led to victory by Bennett Nicholson and Charlie Bonds. Nicholson posted 23 points, while Bonds had 20 points. Nicholson continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Eli Smith, who put up eight points.

Thornwell's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Richard Winn Academy, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home.

Thornwell will square off against Ware Shoals at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Thornwell is facing Ware Shoals at the right time seeing as Ware Shoals is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Richard Winn Academy, they will challenge Cambridge Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
