Volleyball Recap: Black River Starts off Right with Win over Fairview

Black River had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Fairview Warriors by a score of 3-1 on Saturday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pirates also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Black River had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 16-25, 25-22, 25-20, 29-27.

Remington Dieter was a one-woman wrecking crew as she had 22 digs and two assists. That's the most digs she has posted since back in September of 2024.

Black River was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Black River will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on Lake Ridge Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairview, they will host Normandy at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
