Recap: Lake Howell Silver Hawks vs. Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles
Even though the Lake Howell Silver Hawks have not done well against the Central Florida Christian Academy Eagles recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Lake Howell strolled past Central Florida Christian Academy with points to spare, taking the game 72-55. Given Lake Howell's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while Central Florida Christian Academy is ranked 396th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Lake Howell was led to victory by Janiel De los santos and Jaydon A. Samuels. De los santos scored 14 points along with seven assists and five rebounds, while Samuels dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. Samuels hasn't dropped below two blocks for five straight games. Mason Fritz was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Central Florida Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Marko Pandiloski, who scored 11 points. Another player making a difference was Justin Brigham, who scored 11 points.
Lake Howell has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. As for Central Florida Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.
Lake Howell will square off against Boone at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Florida Christian Academy on the road again on Friday and play against Lake Brantley at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Lake Brantley is coming into the game hot, having won their last ten games.
