The Heritage Christian Patriots will challenge the Luther Prep Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
Heritage Christian will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Faith Christian on Saturday. The Patriots put the hurt on Faith Christian with a sharp 21-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Patriots as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
M. Geibl was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, F. Siebert looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on A. Barningham, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those runs were his first of the season. I. Dufek was another key player, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Heritage Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Luther Prep was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 10-3 to Marshall.
Luther Prep saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Owen Proctor, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Luther Prep's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Heritage Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Heritage Christian has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Luther Prep struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
