Basketball Recap: Washburn Comes Up Short

Washburn played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 67-38 loss at the hands of the University School Buccaneers. The defeat continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now lost eight in a row.

Washburn's loss came despite strong showings from Bryson Clay and Dillon Mullins. Clay posted ten points and three steals, while Mullins went 6 for 14 to rack up 17 points. Mullins' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 17 points.

Washburn's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for University School, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 17-6.

Looking ahead, Washburn will be playing at home against Unaka at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for University School, they will head out on the road to challenge Cloudland at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
