Basketball Recap: Modesto Panthers vs. Gregori Jaguars
The Modesto Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their ninth straight defeat. They took a 71-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gregori. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (57), Modesto still had to take the loss.
Kaleb Smith continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gregori, scoring 20 points along with seven steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Marcus Sims, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.
Modesto has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 17 of their last 18 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-20 record this season. As for Gregori, they now have a winning record of 14-13.
Modesto will be playing at home against the Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Turlock presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Panthers in California (the Bulldogs are ranked 479th, while the Panthers are ranked 1153rd). Gregori does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
