Softball Game Preview: Victoria Soto Wolves vs. Solorio Sun Warriors

For the second straight game, Victoria Soto will face off against Solorio. The Wolves are taking a road trip to face off against the Sun Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Victoria Soto has given up an average of 12.1 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Victoria Soto is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 12 runs on Wednesday, they were much more limited against Solorio on Friday. They lost 22-1 to the Sun Warriors.

For Solorio's part, Natalie Pacheco was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Pacheco has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs.

In other batting news, Alice Sanabria and Melanie Martinez did most of the damage at the plate: Sanabria got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Martinez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Sanabria also put up two hits, which were her first of the season. Diana Ascencio was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Solorio always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .900. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Solorio and bumps their season record up to 3-4. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.5 runs over those games. As for Victoria Soto, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4-1.
