While Marquette didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Parkway West Longhorns on Tuesday. This was payback for the Mustangs, who suffered a 3-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Marquette has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Parkway West, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Marquette beat the Longhorns by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday.
