Soccer Game Preview: Emery vs. Manti

The Emery Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Manti Templars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Emery's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Emery is likely headed into the contest with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Delta on Wednesday. Emery lost 4-1 to Delta.

Meanwhile, Manti kept a clean sheet against Juab on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Wasps with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Templars haven't had any issues with the Wasps recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Luis Ornelas and James Dettinger scored all three of Manti's goals, bringing their combined season tally to four goals.

Manti's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Emery, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Emery might still be hurting after the 4-0 loss they got from Manti when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Emery avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
