Football Recap: Republic Piles Up the Points Against Waynesville

Republic's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-0 victory over Waynesville. The final result isn't all that surprising considering Republic's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while Waynesville is ranked 135th).

Republic got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Preston McCracken out in front who rushed for 56 yards and one score, and also threw for 48 yards and one TD. Republic also got a significant boost from Matthew Pelfrey, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 83 yards.

Republic pushed their record up to 1-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 9.6 points on average over those games. As for Waynesville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Republic will welcome Ozark at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Waynesville, they will head out to square off against Willard at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
