Soccer Game Preview: Boulder Creek vs. Liberty

Boulder Creek is 2-8 against Liberty since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Boulder Creek duke it out with the Liberty at 6:00 p.m. Boulder Creek is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.5 goals per game this season.

Liberty better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Boulder Creek really get things going. Everything went Boulder Creek's way against Mountain Ridge on Thursday as Boulder Creek made off with a 5-1 win. Nathan Hopper was a massive factor in the win as he booted in three goals all by himself.

Despite a strong season so far, Liberty has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Corona del Sol. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one goal.

Boulder Creek's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those five contests. As for Liberty, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-5.

Boulder Creek took their win against Liberty when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Boulder Creek since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
