Football Recap: Norfolk Christian Starts Season with Victory Against FCA B

Norfolk Christian had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on the FCA B Bucks with a sharp 28-6 win on Saturday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Ambassadors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 312th in Virginia, while the Bucks are ranked 44th in Delaware).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Norfolk Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ej Dobratz, who rushed for 124 yards and a pair of scores on only 14 carries, and also threw for 17 yards and one TD. Jonathan Newton got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Norfolk Christian will welcome Hampton Roads Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for FCA B, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Harvest Covenant at 2:00 p.m. on September 6. The matchup will give the Bucks their first taste of in-conference action this season.
