Softball Recap: Frontier Takes a Loss

Frontier had lost 15 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-13 to make it 16. They lost 16-1 to the Tri-County Cavaliers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 13-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Frontier saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Summer Kremer, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

As for Tri-County, the victory was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.6 runs on average over those games.

On Tri-County's side, Reese Johnson and Grace Luck were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Johnson pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Luck struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. At bat, Johnson went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Luck got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Luck has posted over her last 11 contests.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Dominguez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Martin, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Frontier will take on rival Faith Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Tri-County is set to square off against their familiar foe DeMotte Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
