Baseball Recap: Monte Vista Comes Up Short

Monte Vista was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bear Creek Bruins. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bruins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Anson Liptak headlined a balanced group of pitchers for Monte Vista, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Anthony Capra made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple and one stolen base. Harrison Law was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Monte Vista's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Bear Creek, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.

Coming up, Monte Vista will take on Clayton Valley Charter at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bear Creek, they will square off against McClatchy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
