Football Game Preview: Grayson County Blue Devils vs. Rye Cove Eagles + How To Watch

The Grayson County Blue Devils will square off against the Rye Cove Eagles at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Grayson County sitting on seven straight wins and Rye Cove on five.

Grayson County is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-15 victory over George Wythe. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.

Grayson County can attribute much of their success to Dazion Thompson, who rushed for 240 yards and three TDs on only 13 carries, and Parker Dowell, who rushed for 177 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Those 177 rushing yards gave Dowell a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grayson County was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 511 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 165 rushing yards in six consecutive games.

Another reason for the win was Grayson County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Rye Cove's offense rose to the challenge against a Spartans defense that boasted an average of only 13.69 points allowed on Friday. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 32-12 margin over Eastside. The Eagles are also no stranger to big wins: their blowout was the ninth contest they've won by 20+ points this season.

Grayson County's record is now 9-4. As for Rye Cove, their record now sits at 10-3.

Grayson County didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rye Cove in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 40-34 win.
